Good morning - I hope you all enjoy your half day ! Here is what went on so far this week/things to remember

Forensics

We started out unit on Fingerprints yesterday during which time we took notes on fingerprint characteristics and looking at fingerprint detail.   Today you should have matched fingerprints and read the article about famous cases that utilized fingerprint identification for convictions/solving cases. We will go over the fingerprint identifications tomorrow.  The article and response is due on Friday.  Tomorrow we will continue with fingerprint analysis

Homework

Write a four-paragraph response about the article you read in class about famous cases and fingerprints.  One paragraph should explain the significance of fingerprints to solving cases and the other thee should summarize how fingerprint technology was used in solving different cases (1 paragraph per case you choose to discuss).  These instructions were on the board during class!  This response is not due until Friday 10/26.

Integrated Science

This week we have been looking at physical properties.  We have notes on six of the major physical properties but there are others.  Today we discussed the criteria and grading rubric for a children's book project about physical properties.  You received a rubric, example page, and what I expect to see in the book.  Your book can have a central theme/storyline or can be like an encyclopedia/visual dictionary with examples.  Do not hesitate to ask me any questions about the book but make sure you are actually reading the directions.  This project is due Tuesday 10/30.  Tomorrow we will delve into physical properties a bit more and do some hands-on activities.

Homework Club - help with homework/time management/organization from National Honor Society students for freshmen academy  = Tuesday afternoons 2:15-3 pm in Mr North's room (Room 218)

* Please be diligent about showing me/completing make-up work.  It is your responsibility to obtain this information and show me you have completed it by the deadline I give you to receive credit

* People that need to make up tests/quizzes should do so ASAP.  You have until Monday 11/5 for any tests or quizzes because I need to make sure I can grade them before grades are due. NO EXCEPTIONS - people missing quizzes/tests names' are on the white board and i will erase them as you complete them

Extra Credit - Several of you have asked for extra credit opportunities.  I will put something together that will be due at the very end of the term that can influence your grade positively if you complete it correctly.  More information on this later.
